Manufacturing Automation & Digital Transformation

Date: 29th - 31st October 2019
Location: FANUC UK, Coventry

Why attend?

Automation is perhaps the biggest talking point in UK manufacturing. With dialogues both for and against taking place at multiple stages of the supply chain, there is a wealth of fact and fiction sparking debate at every level – from the shop floor to the C-Suite.

The fact of the matter is that automation is absolutely critical to growth. Current estimations state the UK is going to remain behind other leading manufacturing nations until 2022, with the likes of Germany – Europe’s most automated country – presently having a higher production rate of 30% per hour. There are just 71 industrial robots per 10,000 workers in the UK. That positions the UK behind 14 other European countries. In contrast, Germany has 309 units.

Ultimately, for the UK to be more productive in manufacturing, we need to work together as an industry. The UK has fantastic engineers, inventors and a great history in manufacturing and now is the time to adopt a proactive approach to ensure we compete with other countries – not fall further behind.

Crucially, automation does not always equate to high capital expenditure, and accessible solutions are available to everyone – from family run subcontracting business, right the way through to multi-national organisations.

To answer the burgeoning questions on UK automation – and set the record straight – FANUC will be hosting its first ever Open House at its state-of-the-art UK headquarters, on 29-31 October 2019.
